Although all JMRL branches are currently closed through the end of March in response to COVID-19, library users can still access a wide variety of downloadable books and audiobooks through JMRL’s eLibrary. Many of the digital titles operate in the same manner as circulating physical copies in that you can place titles on hold and “borrow” them when your turn has arrived. Don’t see the title you want in Overdrive or RBdigital? Put in a suggestion for purchase for digital format titles and JMRL will fulfill as many requests for digital titles as possible.
Most titles can be lent for up to 21 days and are automatically “returned” when the loan period ends. No need to worry about late fees! But just like physical books, digital titles are a shared resource, so only a certain number of copies are available at a time. As the number of users checking out digital titles increases, so too does the waitlist. In anticipation of more users borrowing downloadable books and audiobooks, JMRL encourages users to “return” digital titles as soon as they have finished them rather than letting the loan expire so more people can enjoy that great book you just read or listened to.
Instructions for returning titles early are below. Have more questions? Library staff are available at reference@jmrl.org or via Ask a Librarian.
Click on Loans under “My Account” to view your current checkouts. Click on Return under the title you want to return.
Go to Shelf and click on Manage Loan next to the title you want to return. Click on Return Early.
Go to the “Checked Out” page under the three-lined “Menu” icon on the website, click the “X” in the upper-right corner of the titles card, and click “Confirm” in the message that appears. In the RBdigital Media Manager, click the “Return” button under the title information.
No holds and no wait lists! Freading titles are always available. A free account signup is required and you will need the app or Adobe Digital Editions to view content.
