  1. For those interested, there are two earlier books in the Cashore series – Graceling and Fire. Along with Bitterblue, they have strong female protagonists who are quite different from each other. The books are not actually sequels, but are set in the same world and the main characters come together at the end of the third book. I am awaiting a fourth book!
