It’s another lovely spring day here in Virginia, and a perfect time to celebrate that by visiting a local park. To help you find a park near you where you can take a stroll we rounded up a list of locations. Enjoy!

Albemarle County -The county offers 12 parks on over 4100 acres, and even better, most locations are free all year round. Facilities include dog parks, trails, swimming facilities, fishing, disc golf, and many other activities.

City of Charlottesville – It’s been almost 100 years since Paul McIntire donated the land that allowed the city to start creating public parks. These areas are free and open to the public, “To enhance the quality of life for all through the stewardship of public land and parks and to provide quality recreational experiences.”

Claudius Crozet Park – This community park in the Albemarle County is actually a registered non-profit organization. Park includes fields, club house, playground, pool, and more.

Greene Community Park – This park is in Ruckersville, in Greene County, just off Rt. 33. It has a picnic pavilion, playground, playing fields, and a walking trail.

Louisa County – Louisa has a variety of community recreation areas, including Buckner-Bumpass Park a 19-acre park with playground, playing fields, and trails. It’s also on the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail.

Nelson County – Being close to the mountains, Nelson has some great hikes, and also a variety of community parks you can visit.

National Parks – Here in Virginia we’re lucky to have the Shenandoah National Park in our back yard, but the National Park Service also includes a variety of battlefields, landmarks, memorials, historic sites, trails, and highways throughout the state.

Virginia State Parks – Boat, hike, camp, fish, picnic, swim – the 36 parks in the state offer it all. Entrance fees of at least $3 are charged at all locations.
