The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has announced the 2015 top 10 teen titles. 27,000 teens from all over the globe voted for the following books as this year’s best young adult novels. You can check out any of these titles from your nearby JMRL branch:
- The Shadow Throne by Jennifer A. Nielsen – A conclusion to the best-selling trilogy that includesThe False Prince and The Runaway King finds Jaron embarking on his final adventure to save his kingdom.
- I Become Shadow by Joe Shine – Abducted and trained by the F.A.T.E. Center to become a Shadow, Ren Sharpe is assigned to protect Gareth Young, but with help from her love and fellow Shadow, Junie, she learns that F.A.T.E. itself is behind an attack on Gareth.
- To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han – Keeping private love letters written to five secret crushes she has had, Lara Jean Song finds her personal life going from imaginary to out of control when the letters are unexpectedly mailed.
- My Life With the Walter Boys by Ali Novak. – Devastated when her parents are killed in a car accident, sixteen-year-old Jackie moves from New York City to Colorado to live withher mother’s best friend, who has twelve children, including two boys who start to show an interest in Jackie that goes beyond brotherly.
- Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas – Royal assassin Celaena must travel to a new land to confront a truth about her heritage, while brutal and monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world.
- The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare – A collection of eleven short stories, previously published online, that illuminate the life of the enigmatic, flashy, and flamboyant High Warlock of Brooklyn, Magnus Bane, a character in The Mortal Instruments series.
- The Young Elites by Marie Lu – Scarred and cast out after surviving the blood plague, Adelina finds a place for herself among the Young Elites who use their magic to advocate on behalf of young innocents and who are targeted by the soldiers of the Inquisition Axis.
- The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson – Princess Lia flees an unwanted marriage and expectations about her supernatural legacy only to be pursued by her jilted fiancée and a ruthless assassin.
- Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson – Quiet Emily’s sociable and daring best friend, Sloane, has disappeared leaving nothing but a random list of bizarre tasks for her to complete, but with unexpected help from popular classmate Frank Porter, Emily gives them a try.
- The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith – Stuck in an elevator during a blackout in New York City, Lucy and Owen manage to escape and spend the rest of the blackout bonding on the darkened streets, a night they remember with longing when their respective lives separate them.
