In Cape May, NJ, they are celebrating Sherlock Holmes this weekend, March 20-22. For those who aren’t able to join the festivities there, here are some mysteries to give you a good dose of intrigue without having to leave the comfort of your home – except to pick up the book from the library, of course.

YA Mysteries

The Clockwork Scarab by Colleen Gleason
Sherlock Holmes’ niece and Bram Stoker’s sister team up in an effort to solve the mysterious disappearances of some of English society’s most prominent young women. Can they save the missing girls before they become victims themselves? The famous sleuth himself makes an appearance in this YA mystery.

Jackaby by William Ritter
Jackaby is a sleuth whose skills rival Holmes’, but with the added ability to see supernatural beings. Abigail Rook is Watson to Jackaby’s Holmes as they race to solve a series of murders that Jackaby believes were committed by a nonhuman creature.

Adult Mysteries

House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz
As Holmes and Watson investigate a man in a flat cap who has been menacing their new client, they are drawn ever deeper into a dark conspiracy that stretches from the Houses of Parliament to the lowest opium dens of London. This new Sherlock Holmes story is the first ever authorized by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s estate.

The Beekeeper’s Apprentice by Laurie King
Fifteen-year-old Sarah Russell’s chance meeting with a Sussex beekeeper dramatically changes her life when the reclusive gentleman turns out to be the now-retired Sherlock Holmes, who then becomes her mentor and teacher. Together they head to Wales to seek the kidnapped daughter of an American senator.
