What Do I Read Next?

Lots of books on shelves.Have you ever finished a book that you absolutely adored, and wished that there was more? Have you ever had trouble finding books that live up to your expectations? Are you sick and tired of waiting for your favorite author to publish their next book?

JMRL has a new readers’ advisory service that you can use whenever you’re unsure which book you should read next. All you have to do is fill out the “What Do I Read Next?” form. The form will ask you to list three of your favorite authors or books, which genres you are interested in, and what type of content you’d like to avoid. JMRL librarians will get back to you with personalized book suggestions within three days of your request.

If filling out forms isn’t your style, you can chat with a librarian in person, over the phone by calling 434.979.7151×4 or texting 434.236.8611, through email at reference@jmrl.org, or by chatting online. JMRL librarians will also be available every Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. on the JMRL Facebook page to give you reading recommendations.

Additionally, you can get ideas for your next read by checking out JMRL’s wiki page, called JMRLReads. There, you can find book reviews and lists of recommended books to read. Your library card also gives you free access to Fiction Connection, which is a database designed to help you discover new books by subject or by what you’ve previously read.

The next time you’re looking for a book that you’ll enjoy, just ask JMRL!
