Open enrollment for health care ended on Saturday, but you may still be able to get Marketplace health coverage if you qualify for a 2019 special enrollment period. There are life changes that qualify for this special enrollment. These life changes include: changes in household, changes in residence, and loss of health insurance, among others. Check here for more details and to find out if you qualify. You can also call 1-800-318-2596 with any questions you have.
Visit your local library branch if you need internet access to find out if you qualify for the special enrollment period.
You can apply for Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) any time of year, you don’t need to wait for open enrollment. Medicaid and CHIP provide free or low-cost health coverage to millions of Americans, including some people with limited income, families and children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities. If you qualify, your coverage can start right away. Here’s more information about Medicaid and CHIP. And here’s information about Cover Virginia.
