Crafting at the Library: Halloween Pop-Up Cards

Halloween is in a few weeks and here’s a quick craft for the holiday! Crafting is good for your health- it can reduce stress, can you a sense of accomplishment, and help to improve your sense of concentration. Making crafts has also been shown to increase happiness and protect the brain from damage caused by aging.

Make a few pop-up cards and pass them out to friends!

Supplies needed:
Paper- about 3 pieces
Scissors
Glue
Envelopes
Colored pencils or markers
Ruler

Steps:
Step 1: Fold two sheets of paper in half. Trim to slightly smaller than the size of the envelope, if needed.

Step 2: Draw and cut out a spooky shape (make sure it will fit inside your card).

Step 3: Take one of the sheets of paper and cut two slits from the folded side, about ½” wide and 1” long into the center of the folded paper. (The paper will stay intact though).

Step 4: Push paper through to the other side and fold. This is what you will glue your spooky shape to.

Step 5: Glue shape to the folded tab that you created and let dry.

Step 6: Glue this sheet of paper to the other piece of blank paper. Add a Halloween message!
