Central Library Hosts Children’s Costume Swap

The Central Library Children’s Department is hosting a costume swap so every kid can get a new costume this year!

Here’s how it works:

  • Bring your gently used children’s costumes (infant-children’s extra large sizes) to Central Library only, now through Sept. 28th.
  • Receive a ticket for each costume donated to use at the Swap event on Sunday, Oct 1st at 2pm.
  • The swap will open to those without a ticket at 3pm.
  • You are welcome to donate a child-sized costume even if you’re not planning to participate in the swap.
  • Donations will be accepted now through Sept. 28th in the Children’s Department at Central Library. Costumes will not be accepted at other JMRL branches. Donated costumes will be laundered prior to the swap event.

Participate in the swap and help keep kids’ costumes out of landfills!  Because most costumes are made from polyester and plastics and are not recyclable, each year roughly 2,000 tons of costumes end up in the trash.*
