As a special event, JMRL will be hosting author and playwright Leslie M. Scott-Jones and the cast of the upcoming play “Thirty-Seven” on Thursday, March 18 from 7-8pm.
This virtual event will feature an audio-recording excerpt from “Thirty-Seven”, scheduled to premiere on March 25 as a part of the Charlottesville Players Guild 2021 AMPLIFY Season, followed by a Q&A with the author and cast.
The play follows the life of a young Black man as he wrestles with the issues surrounding his involvement in the Movement for Black Lives.
Seth Cornelius Jefferson, played by Jamahl Garrison-Lowe, confronts his own beliefs as well as those closest to him. He is challenged by Caroline Genovese, a census worker who comes to his door whom he then befriends, and his fiancé Lilly, who is herself an activist.

“Thirty-Seven” will run from March 25-28 at 7:30pm on the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center’s YouTube page.
