Reading on the Go

Nowadays, we use our mobile devices for just about everything. Reading is no exception, and many people now have eReaders, tablets, or mobile phone apps that allow them to read with their devices. If you have a library card with the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library, then you have access to a few different services that allow you to borrow eBooks, audiobooks, or magazines and access them on your mobile device.

OverDrive  OverDrive allows you to download audiobooks and eBooks onto your computer, MP3 player, eReader, or other mobile devices. You can even burn many titles to CDs.  OverDrive hosts more than 1 million premium digital titles from more than 2,000 publishers. There is also a special “Advantage” account with books that are available only to JMRL patrons.

OneClick Digital provides classic audiobooks from Recorded Books. Patrons can borrow up to four books for 14 days each, however, there are no renewals.

FreadingOrderform1Freading is another way for you to enjoy eBooks from JMRL. Freading currently has over 20,000 titles available from every genre in its collection, and more eBooks are being added each week.

zinioZinio, the world’s largest newsstand, offers full color, interactive digital magazines for your enjoyment. There is no limit to the number of magazines you can download, and you may keep them in your account as long as you wish.

One advantage to these services is that you can access the eBook, audiobook, or magazine that you want anywhere, anytime. There are no holds, therefore you don’t have to wait for the item you want. The best part? It’s all free!
